Wyze cameras will use AI to describe what they see

Wyze has introduced a new AI-powered feature called Descriptive Alerts for its security cameras. This functionality provides detailed textual descriptions of detected events, offering users more context than traditional motion alerts. For example, instead of a generic notification indicating motion, users might receive a message stating, “A delivery driver wearing a blue hat leaves a package on the doorstep, then leaves. A green SUV is parked in the street.”

The Descriptive Alerts feature is part of Wyze’s new Cam Unlimited Pro subscription plan, priced at $19.99 per month or $199.99 per year. In addition to Descriptive Alerts, this plan includes:

  • Facial Recognition: Identifies familiar faces to reduce false alerts.
  • Keyword Video Searching: Allows users to search recorded footage using specific keywords or phrases.
  • Multiple Live Feeds: Enables simultaneous viewing of multiple camera feeds.
  • Extended Cloud Storage: Provides 60 days of cloud storage for recorded events, starting in Spring 2025.

This development reflects a broader industry trend toward integrating advanced AI capabilities into home security systems, aiming to enhance user experience through more informative and actionable alerts.
