Truecaller brings its spam blocking abilities to iPhone

Truecaller has enhanced its iPhone application to include real-time caller identification and automatic spam blocking, features that were previously exclusive to Android users. These updates are available for devices running iOS 18.2 or later.

Key Features:

  • Real-Time Caller ID: Incoming calls are now identified in real-time, allowing users to see caller information as the phone rings.
  • Auto-Block Spam: The app can automatically block top spammers or all numbers flagged as spam by Truecaller. Blocked calls are silently filtered and appear as missed calls labeled “Scammer” or “Fraud” in the call log.

Setup Instructions:

  1. Update Requirements:
    • Ensure your iPhone is updated to iOS 18.2 or later.
    • Install the latest version of Truecaller from the App Store.
  2. Enable Call Blocking:
    • Navigate to Settings > Phone > Call Blocking & Identification.
    • Enable all switches associated with Truecaller to allow the app to identify and block spam calls.
  3. Configure Auto-Block Spam:
    • Open the Truecaller app and tap on the profile picture in the upper left corner.
    • Select Settings.
    • Tap on Top spammers and toggle it on. This will create a contact named “SPAM” in your phonebook, and your screen will flash red when a number in that list is calling you.

Please note that some features, such as Auto-Block Spam, require a Truecaller Premium subscription. Additionally, while these features enhance spam protection, it’s advisable to remain vigilant and manually block any unwanted numbers that may bypass these filters.
